On Friday in social science we continued to analyze the reign of Emperor Qin in class. Students resumed watching a documentary on the emperor in order to gather evidence for their claim on Emperor Qin. Next week students will be working in small groups to create posters on the emperor. Students will be required to create a claim on whether Qin was a good or bad ruler for China and to defend their claim with written and illustrated evidence. Announcements / Upcoming Events

Today in social science we focused on studying one specific individual who left an incredible legacy for China: Emperor Qin. After wrapping up notes on the Zhou and Qin Dynasties, students began to watch a documentary about the reign of Emperor Qin in ancient China. Tomorrow we will wrap up the documentary and we will begin to discuss the posters we will be creating on the emperor's rule. Announcements / Upcoming Events
Today students continued to study the Zhou and Qin Dynasties. 4th and 6th hour classes participated in a variety of hands-on learning activities related to Chinese culture during the reign of these dynasties. Activities included calligraphy, origami, figuring out a new route for the Silk Road and more. 7th, 8th and 9th hour classes completed their notes on the Zhou and Qin dynasties today and will be visiting the library for hands-on activities relating to Chinese culture tomorrow. The Zhou and Qin Dynasties will remain our focus of study for the remainder of the week. Announcements / Upcoming Events
On Friday in social science students wrapped up their analysis of China's geography and its impact on early dynasties. After completing labeled maps of China, students worked on vocabulary builders reviewing some of the important terminology from this week. Next week we will be focusing on the Zhou and Qin dynasties and will begin a project in which students will analyze the lagacy of Emperor Qin. Announcements / Upcoming Events
Today we continued to examine the role of geography on ancient Chinese dynasties. After finishing notes on China's geography and early dynasties, students generated labeled maps of China including names of rivers, cities, mountain ranges and more. Students first learned about the role of geography in ancient China and then moved on to examining the Xia and Shang Dynasties. Happy Friday the 13th! Today students were introduced to ancient China. After a PBIS mini-lesson on conflict management, students watched and analyzed a documentary about ancient Chinese dynasties and inventions.
