We are engaging in a historical investigation in which we analyze the death of an man from 5,300 years ago: Otzi the Iceman. Students will become historical detectives as they comb through various primary and secondary sources related to the life and death of this ancient man. After reviewing all of the sources, students will come up with their own theories for how he died. They will then use the sources to provide reasoning and evidence for their claims. Students' final products will be a slide show in which they present their claims, evidence, and reasoning. Once we wrap up our investigation of Otzi the Iceman, we will begin to examine Unit 7 and the history of agriculture and civilizations. Announcements
Today we welcomed a guest speaker from Spurlock Museum who taught us about the history of trade. We interacted with artifacts that were commonly traded in ancient times and learned about the Silk Road in detail. Students worked in groups as they analyzed artifacts, discussed the impact of global trade, and more. Next week we will wrap up our Otzi investigation and begin our Unit 7 notes. Announcements
