We are taking several days in social studies class to review the stages of stars (and their role in the history of the universe) by creating comic strips about this topic. We individually designed comic strips depicting the stages that we learned about in class and added details about how stars connect with other events in the universe's history. After completing this project, we will review unit content by engaging in a game of Kahoot trivia over Unit 3. Announcements
Today we engaged in an activity that helped us understand the role that various scientists have played in uncovering the history of the universe. After discussing how scientists contribute to history, we examined three specific scientists in history (Dmitri Mendeleev, Marie Curie, and Alfred Nobel) using sources on our Chromebooks. Tomorrow we will begin the process of creating comic strips about the stages of stars. Announcements
This week in social studies, we applied what we learned about the history of stars. After getting feedback on our essays, we reviewed the stages that stars go through in their lifetime. Later on during this unit, we will create comic strips about the stages of stars. Announcements

Today in social studies, we reviewed the key concepts and terms from this unit by playing a game of Kahoot trivia as a class. We used our Chromebooks to join the Kahoot game and revisited important information relating to Unit 2 and the history of the Big Bang. Tomorrow we will begin Unit 3 and the history of stars and chemical elements in class. Announcements
Now that we have completed our analysis of sources for our unit investigation in social studies, we have moved on to answering the main question posed by the investigation: how and why do people change their minds? Using the 8 primary and secondary sources that we analyzed in class, students developed an answer (claim) to this question, which was then supported by evidence and reasoning from the sources. We took several days to craft our introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions before typing our final essays in class. After we complete our essays, we will wrap up Unit 2: The Big Bang as a whole. Announcements
On Tuesday on social studies, we watched an episode of Cosmos about our place in the universe. We recorded information about our galaxy and our universe, as well as the history behind how we found this information out. Tomorrow we will resume our unit investigation. Announcements
On Monday in social studies, we welcomed a guest speaker from Spurlock Museum! Our guest taught as about the value of both gold and salt in ancient times, and how both of these were used as forms of currency. Tomorrow we will watch a video about the history of the cosmos in class. Announcements
