On Monday in social studies, we spent the day reviewing for the Unit 5 exam. Students worked in small groups to complete a review guide on the unit using all of their notes and resources. Review guides will be checked for understanding. Our only homework is to study for the Unit 5 exam tomorrow! Later this week we will move on to study Unit 6 and the history of early humans. On Friday in social studies, students began working on a new project. In small groups, students 'invented" a species using what they have learned about the history of life on Earth as well as their own research on various species. Students wrapped up this project on Monday and Tuesday in class. We will wrap up unit 5 and study for the unit assessment after Thanksgiving break. Announcements
Today in social studies we spent the day wrapping up our notes on Unit 5 and the history of life on Earth. Students learned about the biosphere, various ecosystems, adaptation, natural selection and more. Tomorrow we will study the biosphere more in depth. Announcements
On Monday and Tuesday, core classes were not held due to ACT Aspire testing. Students participated in the ACT Aspire Test by taking exams on Science, Math, English, Reading, and Writing. Students then attended encore classes after lunch. On Wednesday, we will continue to study the history of life on Earth. Announcements
Today in social studies, students learned about the definition of life and the history of life on earth. Students worked in the computer lab to read an online article on this topic and answered a set of analysis questions on the reading. Tomorrow we will be taking more in-depth notes on Unit 5 and the history of life. Announcements
On Monday in social studies, students worked on testing claims related to the unit we are starting on the history of life. Students had to use one of our claim testers to decide whether or not they believed various facts about life on Earth. After making educated guesses, students found out whether the facts were indeed true or not. Tomorrow we will continue to learn about the history of life and we will be reading an article in class. We will also use some of our class time to learn about Veteran's Day and its importance. Announcements
Today students were introduced to Unit 5 and the history of life on Earth. Students took a pre-assessment on the unit to gauge their level of knowledge on this topic. Students also had the opportunity to fill our a feedback survey on the Big History curriculum. Next week we will begin to learn more about the history of life on Earth. Announcements
