On Friday, students worked on their second diary entries from the point of view of ancient Egyptians. For this entry, students were required to focus on the role of government and religion in the Old Kingdom by discussing the importance of their religion and the pharaohs to their lives. Today students reviewed the key concepts and terms associated with ancient Egypt's Old Kingdom. Students read the section in their textbooks on the Old Kingdom to review the main ideas and completed a vocabulary building exercise on the terms in the section. Tomorrow, students will demonstrate what they have learned about the Old Kingdom by writing a diary entry from the point of view of an Egyptian focusing on religion and government during this time period. On Wednesday, students spent the day studying Egyptian gods and goddesses. Students began their examination of the gods by first reading myths involving the Egyptian gods Osiris, Set, and Isis. After this, students had the opportunity to create their own pretend Egyptian god or goddess using ancient Egyptian symbols. Tomorrow we will review what we have learned about religion and government in the Old Kingdom before writing our diary entries on the topic on Friday. This will be for a major grade. Today students continued their in-depth study of the role of religion and government in the lives of ancient Egyptians. Students read primary sources in class that revolve around the topic of the pyramids. In addition, students acted out a play relating to pyramid planning. Tomorrow we will be discussing religion in ancient Egypt more in detail by studying Egyptian gods and goddesses. Announcements / Upcoming Events
Welcome back! After a great break, students returned to social studies today and continued to study ancient Egypt by looking at the role of government and religion in the lives of ancient Egyptians. Today students took notes on this subject and on the overall topic of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. Tomorrow we will be going deeper into the topic by reading primary sources on religion and government in ancient Egypt and by discussing how pyramids were planned out. Announcements / Upcoming Events
